ICER-Pro: New Program Strengthens Collaborative Research in the EU

The European Union takes another step towards innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration with the launch of the Interdisciplinary & Collaborative Education and Research Program (ICER-Pro). This initiative aims to foster professional development and the creation of collaborative research networks across Europe. Comprising three interactive and complementary modules, ICER-Pro offers an accessible approach for those looking to deepen their understanding of EU research funding and project management. The program stands out as a unique opportunity for professionals and researchers to enhance their expertise in the realm of collaborative projects within the European Union.

The first module, known as the "Yellow Module," provides an Introduction to EU Research Funding. It is designed for beginners seeking to navigate the landscape of European funding opportunities. This module offers a comprehensive overview of EU funding mechanisms, highlighting the EU Funding & Tenders portal and the various financing programs available. The primary focus is on the EU Research Framework, outlining the necessary steps to become a project partner or coordinator.

The "Blue Module" shifts the focus to the practical aspects of applying for research projects. Covering everything from drafting project proposals to structuring work plans and budget allocation, this module provides essential insights into excellence, implementation, and impact—key elements of any successful application. Additionally, a special session guides participants through the development of a communication, dissemination, and exploitation plan, culminating in valuable tips on budget planning.

The "Purple Module" explores the societal impact of research. Participants will delve into how projects can create tangible change, addressing stakeholder analysis, real-world problem identification, and impact planning. One of the highlights of this module is a series of panel discussions featuring representatives from diverse sectors, including public policy, community organizations, and private industry. These experts will share their experiences and strategies for maximizing project outcomes. The module concludes with sessions on scientific communication, social media, and storytelling, equipping participants with the skills to effectively convey their research findings to a broader audience.

ICER-Pro stands out for its comprehensive and hands-on approach, offering a complete learning experience for those looking to navigate EU funding processes and develop impactful projects. With a structured progression—from an introduction to funding to the maximization of societal impact—this program provides an invaluable resource for researchers and professionals committed to driving meaningful change through collaborative research.
