Cláudia Teixeira, Professor at ISCAP and researcher at CEOS. PP, participated as Keynote Speaker in the plenary session ‘Embedding sustainable development in the accounting curriculum in HEIs’, part of the Symposium on Sustainability in Accounting, Management, Finance and Taxation Programmes in Higher Education, which took place at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA) on 29 and 30 May.
In her speech, Cláudia Teixeira addressed the context of accounting and accounting education in light of the dominant perspectives on sustainable development, as well as examples of studies and projects developed by the academic community and HEIs.
Among the topics covered, she highlighted the analysis of the ‘Subject Benchmark Statement for Accounting’ (QAA, 2025), a document recently published by The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), which defines guidelines for the teaching and learning of accounting (and related areas) in higher education, integrating principles and practices, particularly in the context of teaching for sustainable development.
The symposium was organised by the IPCA's Centre for Accounting and Taxation Research, in collaboration with the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and the Research and Transfer Centre on Sustainable Development and Climate Change Management, bringing together researchers of various nationalities with the aim of fostering discussion on sustainability, with a particular focus on the fields of accounting, management, taxation and finance.
The participation of the CEOS.PP researcher in this international event highlights the centre's active involvement in promoting innovative and sustainable teaching practices, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and the social relevance of the research produced.
