CEOS.PP joins European project DIGI-net on labor inequalities and digitalization in adulthood

CEOS.PP - Centro de Estudos Organizacionais e Sociais do Politécnico do Porto - is part of the international project COST Action CA21107 - DIGI-net: Work Inequalities in Later Life Redefined by Digitalization, a European network of excellence investigating the impact of digitalization on work inequalities at later stages of working life. This action is coordinated by Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, and brings together more than 400 researchers from 44 countries.

In a Europe where the digital transformation is profoundly reconfiguring the labor market - with the growing presence of information technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics and automation - there is also an increase in the number of workers aged 50 and over in the workforce. However, the effects of this technological revolution on these age groups remain poorly understood. It is in this context that DIGI-net assumes a strategic role, seeking to reduce gaps in scientific knowledge and promote greater coordination between research and public policies.

CEOS.PP has an active presence in this European action through its participation in three working groups: Groups 1, 2 and 5, with special involvement in Working Group 2, where it takes on sub-leadership roles. Collaboration also extends to Working Group 1, with the participation of researcher Adriana Oliveira.

The project is being developed around five working groups dedicated to topics such as digitalization and inequalities, age-related organizational culture, the health of older workers, policy formulation and implementation, and communication strategies with the social, business and media sectors. The initiative also includes a Young Researchers Forum and an Older Workers Reference Group, ensuring diversity of perspectives and intergenerational inclusion.

Activities include three international events a year, short-term scientific missions, funding for individual research and participation in scientific conferences. Relevant outputs are planned, such as academic publications, public policy recommendations and the production of two open access monographs.

With this participation, CEOS.PP reinforces its commitment to applied and interdisciplinary research, contributing to the development of knowledge that responds to emerging social challenges in the digital age.
