Maria de Fátima Pacheco

Associate Researcher

Professor at ISCAP (Polytechnic Institute of Porto) since October 1997. PhD in "European Union Law" from the Catholic University of Portugal; postgraduate course in "European Studies" and "European Union Law" from the University of Coimbra and from the Classical University of Lisbon; several specialisations and advanced training courses in "European Justice on Human Rights", in "Law of the Sea", in "Armed Conflict Law" and other areas related to the fundamental rights. Advanced studies course in Immigration Law. Her areas of interest are European Union Law, International Law and Human Rights. She has published several works and given several lectures on the Protection of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, its most essential values and the Regional Protection of the Human Person. She belongs to the JUSGOV research centre, at the University of Minho, in the Human Rights group. She is also member of CEOS and CEI (ISCAP - Polytechnic of Porto). She is a member of the Jean Monnet chair ("Dimensions of the European Union's values"). The themes that capture her sensitivity and her scientific research fall within the scope of Migration Law and areas related to the Promotion and Defence of Democracy and the Rule of Law, from the perspective of guaranteeing respect for fundamental rights in all areas of EU action.
