On March 7, 2025, the ISCAP Hackathon during the JOCLAD event was held at the Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto (ISCAP), a demanding and creative event that united students from different educational backgrounds to address data analysis problems.
The contest took place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and was a genuine marathon of innovation and problem-solving, with teams striving to discover creative solutions through statistical methods and data analysis techniques. The primary goal of the ISCAP Hackathon was to foster the enhancement of data science abilities while providing participants with the chance to engage with actual data and utilize innovative tools and methods in a cooperative setting.
The competition was split into two groups: one for secondary school and CTeSP students, and another for higher education students (undergraduate and master's level). Participants organized into teams of four members, encouraging a vibrant sharing of ideas and methods. The event, capped at 40 teams, turned out to be a tremendous success, as participants showcased exceptional motivation and creativity. Every team had the opportunity to showcase their solutions to the proposed challenges, and all participants departed the Hackathon with fresh experiences and useful knowledge for their academic and career journeys.
This Hackathon showcased the students' talent and creativity, while also stressing the significance of data analysis and collaboration between academic fields in creating solutions for real-world issues.
