Rosa Maria Sobreira has a PhD since 2010 in Communication Sciences, specialising in Institutional Communication, from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the New University of Lisbon. In 2001, she completed a master's degree in Communication Sciences - Study of the Media and Journalism, at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In 1997 she graduated in Public Relations from the Fernando Pessoa University in Porto.
Professionally, between 1995 and 2001, she worked as a press officer and public relations officer. She began her teaching career in 2001 as an assistant professor in the Department of Management and Economics at the Polytechnic School of Leiria. She is currently an adjunct professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, where she has been teaching Strategic Communication, Public Relations, Marketing Communication and Press Relations since 2006.
As a researcher, she was a founding member of the Media and Journalism Research Centre (CIMJ) at Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1997, where she remained until 2013. In 2014, she joined the Communication, Journalism and Public Space Group of the Research Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of the 20th Century (CEIS_20) at the University of Coimbra as an integrated researcher until September 2023. She has been a collaborating researcher at CEOS_PP since January 2024.
