Teresa Pataco

Associate Researcher

Teresa Pataco has an undergraduate degree (with Honours) in Modern Languages and Literatures (major in Translation) from the Faculty of Letters (University of Porto), a Master's Degree in Translation Studies from the same University and successfully completed a Post-graduate programme in Translation for Subtitling at Instituto Superior de Assistentes e Intérpretes (now Instituto Superior de Administração e Gestão). She is currently doing PhD research in Terminology, Documentation and Corpora, at the Facultade de Filoloxía e Tradución, University of Vigo.
She has taught English for Specific Purposes at Higher Education Institutions since 1997, in undergraduate degrees and post-graduate programmes in the areas of Tourism, Management and Accounting, Hotel and Catering Management, Information Technology and Design.
Apart from teaching activities, she has been part of the translation team responsible for the Portuguese version of JADA, The Journal of the American Dental Association, since 1997.
As a researcher, she is integrated in CEOS.PP – Centre of Organizational and Social Studies, and CiTUR – Centre for Tourism Research, Development, and Innovation as a research collaborator. Her research interests are in the fields of English for Specific Purposes, Translation, Terminology, and Corpora. She has been a member of the organisation and scientific committees of national and international seminars and conferences and has published several scientific papers and book chapters.
