She holds a Master's in Management and Development in Human Resources from ESEIG, Polytechnic of Porto, and a Bachelor's in Human Resources from the same institution. She is pursuing a PhD in Communication at the Faculdade de Comunicación, University of Vigo, Spain. With over 20 years of professional experience, Maria has dedicated 13 years to Local Administration and currently serves as a Senior Technician in the Research Promotion Office at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. Previously, she has held positions in the Human Resources Office and the Project Management Office of the same institute.

Her research interests are centered around human resource management, with a particular focus on competencies and their increasing relevance in the workplace. She is also deeply interested in work-life balance, flexible work arrangements, and more humanized management methodologies.
