Lino Oliveira

Associate Researcher

PhD in Computer Science from Portucalense University Infante D. Henrique (UPT) in 2012 with the thesis "Implementation of an Integrated Platform of Content Management Systems and Web 2.0 Applications for Higher Education Institutions."

Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP) in 1986.

Professor of Computer Science in Higher Education since 1991, at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (P.PORTO) since 2001, and at the School of Media Arts and Design (ESMAD) since 2016, where he is a Coordinator Professor of the Department of Computer Science.

Vice-President of P.PORTO for Information Systems and Head of the Office of Infrastructure, Systems, and Communications (2018-2022).

Integrated Researcher at the R&D Unit Games, Interaction & Learning Technologies (GILT) since 2022.

Founding Integrated Researcher of the Research Unit in Media Arts and Design (uniMAD) at ESMAD, where he participated in interdisciplinary research projects in IT, either fundamental or applied (2017-2024).

Member of the E-Learning and Pedagogical Innovation Unit of P.PORTO (EIPP/P.PORTO) (2012-2022).

Researcher at INESC Norte (1986-1988) and Trainee Researcher at CERN (1987), developing work in computer networks.

His main areas of interest, and where he conducts most of his research, are technologies applied to Education, e/b-learning, and personal learning environments. He has published several articles on these subjects in national and international conferences. He has been a member of Scientific and Program Committees of various conferences and a reviewer for publications in several scientific journals.
